Former Sparks Resident Releases Much Anticipated Debut Novel

Texie Susan Gregory Launches Meet and Greet Book Signing Tour in Reno, Nevada

(Reno, Nev., November 1, 2016) – Author Texie Susan Gregory returns to Northern Nevada to hold a meet and greet, and book signing event on November 5th, 2016. The event will be held at Barnes & Nobel Booksellers, 5555 S Virginia Street, Reno, Nevada, from 1:00 pm till 3:00 pm. The event will highlight Gregory’s debut novel, Slender Reeds: Jochebed’s Hope.

Slender Reeds, a fictional novel based on biblical events, is about the impact that a mother’s words and actions have on her children and future generations. In this story, Jochebed, a Hebrew slave who will eventually give birth to Moses, and Shiphrah, an Egyptian midwife, struggle against insurmountable obstacles to trust the unseen god, YHWH. Set against the darkness of Egypt at its blazing height–the reign of Ramses the Great–these ordinary women are woven into God’s redemptive plan for the people of Israel. And the world.

Texie Susan Gregory, a former resident of Sparks, Nevada, holds a master’s in Counseling from ASU and a master’s in Religious Education from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. An accomplished public speaker, Gregory has spoken at women’s retreats, MOPS meetings (Mothers of Preschoolers), and various Tres Dias events.

A breast cancer survivor, Gregory is an inspiration to others struggling with the disease. Gregory’s journey through treatment and chemotherapy was documented by news anchor, Edie Lambert of KCRA-TV Sacramento. ‘Susan’s Story; A Message of Hope’, the acclaimed video journal of her battle, received a regional Emmy in 2004, and encouraged Gregory to follow her dream of becoming a novelist. A second documentary by KVIE, ‘Breast Cancer; Strength and Courage’ also won a regional Emmy. Slender Reeds: Jochebed’s Hope is Gregory’s debut novel (release: November 1, 2016) and sure to be well received by critics and readers.

An early draft of Slender Reeds was awarded the Beverly Bush Smith Writer Award at the Orange County Christian Writer’s Conference, and fiction first place in an Inspire to Write Conference.

Commenting on her new book, Gregory said, “This project is a dream come true. I am excited by the opportunity to remind women of their influence. Motherhood is a gift. And with that gift comes the need to understand the impact our words and actions have on our children, grandchildren and future generations.”
